Mean, mode, median & range

• A dataset can be understood and summarized by the mean, mode, median and range of the data
• The mean (or average) gives an overall sense of the dataset by adding all the values together and dividing by the number of values
• The median is the middle value in an ordered dataset
• The mode is the value occurring most often
• The range is the difference between the highest and lowest values
