
Subject, object, passive, active
- Subject & object nouns and passive & active voice are key terms in grammar
- A subject noun is the noun that performs the action of the sentence – The cat chased the mouse
- An object noun is the noun that receives the action of the sentence (mouse)
- In the active voice the subject of a sentence performs the action
- In the passive voice the object becomes the subject even though it does not perform the action - The mouse was chased by the cat
