  • If a word is phonetic it means the word can be sounded out using the phonetic sound of individual letters, blends, digraphs and trigraphs

  • Words such as lighter can be divided into two syllables - light/er

  • Breaking words into syllables helps with both reading and spelling

  • A grapheme is the letter or group of letters that represents one phoneme (one unit of sound).

  • Every word in this activity is a real English word
