Consonant blends

  • Consonants are all the letters of the alphabet that are not vowels: b, c, d, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, p, q, r, s, t, v, w, x, y, z
  • Consonant blends are made of two consonants which are highlighted in brown on the worksheets
  • Consonant blends combine the phonetic sounds of the two letters and can be found at the beginning or end of a word
  • The worksheets are listed in suggested order and for most children it is best to start with a single blend at the beginning of a word
  • Children can do as many blends as they want until they feel confident
  • Every word in the activities is a real English word
