  • Punctuation marks help the reader understand what the writer is trying to say
  • A full stop looks like this . and is a pause in the text which indicates a statement has been completed
  • A question mark looks like this ? and is a pause in the text which indicates a question has been asked
  • An exclamation mark looks like this ! and is a pause in the text which indicates an exclamation has been made
